The And 1 Tour has produced its share of stars. “Skip to my Lou,” “Professor,” “Hot Sauce,” and “Escalade” are all well known by anyone that has ever watched the ESPN show “Streetball” or the Mixtape volumes. Most of the players are good at what they do, but not all of them are able to put it down when it comes to organized ball.
The best overall player affiliated with And 1 might be Aaron “AO” Owens who won a D-League chip with the now defunct Mobile Revelers in ’02-‘03 (Rafer Alston played on them as well before being called up by the Raptors), but a player that flew under the radar was Lonnie Harrell a.k.a. “Prime Objective.” He hails from Washington, D.C., and has not played pro since a stint with the ABA’s Cape Cod Frenzy in ’04-05, but he keeps his run up at D.C.’s Berry Farms summer league. NBA ballers as well as last season’s And 1 team have made the trek to Chocolate City to face off with Harrell’s legendary squad. While the Prime is able to rep the street scene, experience in the D-League, IBL, ABA, and USBL have enabled him to make a name on the hardwood, too.
Starting his career at home, Harrell saw little time at Georgetown during the post Mourning/Mutumbo era and before a guy named “AI” strolled through the Big East school. Before his junior year, Prime transferred to Northeastern and finished his collegiate career as one of the America-East’s top performers. A couple of training camp invites never led to anything more than a NBDL contract for Harrell, but he continued to keep it live in the park establishing a lucrative career with And 1. Harrell has always dedicated himself to grinding through the minor leagues and trying to achieve a dream.

Prime Objective played pro as recently as January 2008 with the Maryland Nighthawks of the Premier Basketball League. This is factual because I saw the game with my own eyes.

Steve-o,
The tryout that Prime had was with the NJ Nets.
Matt,
Thanks for the update on Prime, I was not aware that he played with the Nighthawks and I saw them last week against the Reading Railers and he was not on Maryland’s team. It would make sense though as many street players have suited up for the “Poetry in Moten” coached Hawks.
