Harlem Keep On Makin’, Brookyn Keeps On Takin’ It!
When you think of NYC basketball, wherever you’re from, reside or chill at, you will always hear about a Brooklyn ballplayer or team causing major problems on the court. To clarify “major problems on the court,” I mean just destroying the opponents.
Seems like more teams are from Brooklyn than any other borough in high school right now, especially the PSAL. This year’s playoff format consisted of two divisions due to the blow-outs from years ago. In the Boys’ Varsity A you had:
George Westinghouse defeating Eagle Academy who had not lost a game in their division in two years. Curtis Pierce led the charge with 24 points.
East New York Transit Tech beating South Bronx. This young team has two sophomores, Rhamel Brown and Barry Posey, who play as if they were graduating in June.
In the Boys’ Varsity AA Division:
Abraham Lincoln has http://www.bornready.tv (Lance Stephenson), Vincent Council, James Padgett, Justin Greene, Darwin Ellis, and other guys who play valuable minutes for the defending champs like Devon McMillan, Timothy Flowers and Christopher Epps. Can you say Depth?
Boys & Girls, the Pride & Joy of Bed-Stuy, are ready to play in the Garden once again. Coach Ruth Lovelace has a team full of hard workers, good decision makers, and athletes with Clayton Sterling, Patrick Jackson, Brandon Romain, Cyril Reid, Davis Imes, Shalik Jenkins, Christopher Harris. The rest of her team can play anywhere else and start.
When Keith Spellman came as a freshman, he knew he was going to put Thomas Jefferson Campus back on the map. He has backcourt help with Davontay Grace (who single handedly beat Cardozo), Joel Wright–a freak of nature, and their tough guy, Allan Marshall. Everyone is coming back next year too.
We can not forget about the Boys’ Varsity B Division. We have three teams remaining and they are:
Acorn High School for Social Justice
Brooklyn Collegiate
EBC Bushwick Leaders
To all my residents from Brooklyn, there is nothing else more to say. When you argue with someone about which borough is better, use this as a resource because Brooklyn basketball is just . . . there are no words to describe.
Big-ups to Canarsie, Bishop Loughlin, Robeson, Bishop Ford, Poly Prep, Xaverian, and Adelphi Academy who held it down this year, too.
Randy Millard is currently enrolled at Norfolk St. University in Virginia where he argues every lunch period about how great Brooklyn is. Look out for more BK updates from him soon . . .

That’s only in the public school division. All the real nice players from the other boroughs go to catholic schools. Rice, St.Ray’s, Christ the King, Holy Cross, The last time a Brooklyn school made noise in the CHSAA “AA” division? Was when Lance Field (Pitt) was there.

as a Bk dude,I would love to co-sign this duke,but I cant.
While BK does have great talent, the best high school programs are generally the catholic schools, and they are usually st. ray’s and rice. You can get away with throwing Christ the king or even Loughlin in there on a good season, but for the most part, if it wasnt for Lincoln being so tough through out the last 4-5 years, Bk would be quiet. Bk is resurging thx to Boys and Girls,Jefferson and several other programs that are starting to show signs of growth, but for the most part,we are as Nas said “destroying and rebuilding”.
