Well, B.O.’s camp got up on it and posted it on his official blog! Word up! So now that we’re on the presidential-elect radar, let’s all use our voting power and make it out to the polls at the appropriate time. In effect, regulation status.

Let me start by saying that I am a Barack Obama supporter. I think we should try to imagine what our lives would be like if he wins. Be careful of the possible Jim Crow backlash. With a black president, a lot of a people will get the false impression that this country is fair and just. I beg to differ. Democrat, Republican, white, or black the commander in chief can’t by himself change the politcal process nor can he change the criminal justice system. If Barack wins he will be able to change peoples perception of us. But just because he may be on top, doesn’t mean that the playing field is level and it doesn’t mean that black people now have been paid their reparations. With a black president, it will be easy for people to say that we don’t need quotas, affirmative action, or minority based special programs. They will say “we are not discriminating, we even have a black president”. That mentality is good if it inspires us to excell. But for those of us that may need assistance, there will be a difference. People will expect us to overachieve because if Barack can do it then why can’t you? The laws won’t change with a black president, but peoples way of thinking will. BEWARE OF THE NEW MILLENEUM JIM CROW! Go Barack Obama!

@ Reggie MIH Peters:
Really good points.
IMO the paradigm’s gonna change. People wanna be inspired to live up to their true potential and beyond, to act in spite of their fears. Once one reaches that point, all kinds of things become possible. Many racists are trying to figure out why they’re that way, and once they find ways to manage and act in spite of their own fears, then there’s no need for hatred. It serves no use.
I know this sounds ideal, but given a choice, as a country, which would we rather let control us, fear or love? I think the votes are giving us that answer so far.
Many people have fear of success. A lot of people doubt their own ability to handle something good. But like in basketball and sports, do champions play to win or play not to lose?

Claude:
I prefer love over fear any day. You are right; people do have a fear of success and people have a fear of us being successful. I am a champion and I always play to win. But even champions need to surround themselves around people with a winning attitude. We can’t let one victory lead us to believe that there is nothing else to do. We still have a lot of issues to work in in the grass roots arena. I wish you luck in your efforts.
