NYC playground legend Jack “Black Jack” Ryan graced our Spring Issue #14 cover (his first ever), and while in New Orleans during All-Star Weekend he added a new page to his already incredible story–He’s now in the Guinness Book of World Records! He reached out to Bounce to tell the story . . .
Guinness approached me to invent some new basketball records during All-Star Week at Jam Session. I gave them a list, and they picked three. I did the “longest spin on the nose” which was around five seconds, “longest spin on the toe” which i did in just under ten seconds, and “most foul shots in a minute while blindfolded.” I made five.
The toe and nose were real easy for me but the blindfold was not. After a few shots i got a little dizzy and had no clue where the rim was! I had someone telling me I was off to the right, off to the left. I know i just set the record and didn’t break any, but it feels great to be able to say I am a 3-time Guinness Book of World Record holder! It’s crazy!!

Two of the best 3-pointer shooters ever: Jason Kapono of the Raptors and Jack Ryan of the streets!

“Black Jack” shooting blindfolded. He still swished it!

Jack is the man! I’m happy he’s been able to do his own thing with ball, all while correcting his life and avoiding a nebulous path. I eagerly await a possible DVD about his life.
