All-Star Game “Playground Style” . . . / Feb 17, 2008 / 10:12 pm

Yep, Marv Albert said the above statement a second ago, then the announcing team declared the NBA All-Star contest a “glorified pick-up game!” Word up! That’s what we’re about all year round, and the most major league event during the entire regular season–stated by the broadcasters–is emulating how we do . . .

Not that we need Cool Marv to validate how we get down, but after years of hearing, “The playground is the problem . . .” it’s just nice to get some love from above.

How did you feel about the comment?

I think that the elder skool NBA announcers and high office officials are at that point where they have no choice but to recognize “the playground” as the true skool level of play and origin for now skool ballers…..
Good to hear, even though in 1994 my High School B Ball coach got away w/ tossin me to the confines of the bench b/c I played too much “bull sh!t” basketball.

White America has come a long way in just over 10 years….
    Heh.
2008, the year All Star weekend went back to being All Star weekend.

The East went straight small ball and got it done. At the end, the pace picked up dramatically and THEN it was straight playground.

    Highlights

    - Dwight Howard’s dunk of the oop from Kidd.
    - Amare vs Dwight.
    - Ray heating up at the end.
    - LeBronski elevating over Dirk off the long jump.

Yo–did Jesus Shuttlesworth get cheated on the MVP? I feel like he had something to prove since he didn’t get the original nod, like he had a vendetta. that was some street sh*t. like, ‘oh word–you already got your 5? i got next and i’m gonna bust your ***.” imagine having to guard him in the park? he releases the ball at the height of his jumper which is higher than most people can jump off two! remember, he’s 6′5″! i don’t even think spike lee could block his shot if he jumped off his seat at the garden with coiled springs taped to the bottom of his spi’zikes. maybe rosario dawson would have a better chance at throwing him off . . . somewhere denzel is smiling . . .

Bob - Hahah!…word to free association “and everything like that.”
A cure for no Cell phone suffrage try using Aol Instant Messenger to text next time you want to call or at least beep the lord without a touch tone. Or to vote for his son

One broadcaster sitting next to Marv was calling for Jesus to take the MVP too. (I think it was Reggie)

Sneaker consciousness was all abound this all star weekend too. From courtside interviews pan downed to the feet, to commentary from the announcers about the players kicks (and players about the refs “air-tars”)

did anyone catch Chris Paul’s PE J’23s he wore the first half? I like his sneaker game almost as much as his ball game

Son, I will cancel my trip to the Bahamas w/ my fams, show up, and show yall up!!!!!

Sugar ray Shuttlesworth got robbed yo….
LeBron already been MVP, I ain’t sayin he wasn’t deservant (the oop from Howard and the reaction afterward killed ish), but there sure were a lot superstars in the place to be last night….

Minus Paul Pierce’s inability to hit shots at the buzzer (end of 3rd quarter, and any Celtic’s clutch situation for that matter)…

Chris Paul changing kicks at halftime to his new signature styles via brand Jordan….

Almost, just almost, felt like 1988…
Peace to Terrence Stansbury and Phi Slamma Jamma mahssive worldwide, no fan of Clyde Drex though….Jerome Kersey anyone???
    haha

Yo, Booger’s cuz did his thing in the 2nd half. Stern probably didn’t pick Ray as MVP ‘cos it’s gonna ruin his marketing plans.
