In ‘05, jeweler Gabriel Urist a.k.a. “The Purist” caught his first national recognition on ESPN’s “It’s The Shoes” series hosted by our own Bobbito. Heavy hitters in entertainment and in the ‘hood have copped his sneaker inspired chains. His collab with adidas will premier during NBA All-Star Weekend Feb. 14th to the 17th. It’s the brand’s first Remix of ‘08. Only 200 pairs will be available, all exclusively in the City of Saints. Urist also designed a matching adidas TS Pro Model chain that will be sold at the NBA store.

Adidas lined up lovely with the Undrcrwn editions and now this? I love the woodgrain. I wonder if the proceeds from the kicks will go to the NO? Lovely sneakers though. I can’t wait to get to the point where I can get collabos like this. I think as far as customizing, Adidas has stretched the limits of materials a bit more than some Nike heads are willing to go with a sneaker. Personally if I didn’t have to work so hard on our new sneaker I would really be waiting for a rerelease of the White, Blue and Orange Patrick Ewing Adidas. They did a semi release of this but I think it was not pushed as heavy as it should have been. Nice kicks though.

i’m under the impression that since pat finished his career as a nike athlete and still does appearance’s for the swoosh, adidas had limited ability to push the re-issue of the ‘87 ewings. hope that helps chris and good luck with your shoe!

Chris- I really disliked the adi. lineup from last year…These are fresh though. I wish they would’ve gone away from such a boxy look though. The shoe doesn’t flow that well in my opinion. I’m hearing they’re great on the court though.

I can feel you on the undrcrwn/adi collab, but I like the risk. I think very often designers take it safe and choose things that are less about discover and more about satisfying the mainstream. But I guess it is about selling sneakers, something that we are just learning to do. With this kick I guess it is that sand/woodgrain color that really sets them off for me. Oh by the way the kicks are back from across the water. Not in your size just yet but I’m working on that.
