The day started in classic fashion when Mr. Couch manned the scorebook and signed in all the 13 and under kids for the first game. It ended with him standing with Kemba Walker and Omari Lawrence after a spectacular High School All-Star Game won by the New York All Stars.

Bounce #13 Cover features Kemba Waker here standing with Omari at the Fall Reunion Games.

Make sure you put your number next to your name!
It was a tremendous Jim Couch Foundation Reunion. Torrel Harris’ Unique All-Stars won the 13 and under game. Sid Jones’ United Brooklyn took the 16 and under and John Riley’s Westchester Lady Knicks beat the Douglas Panthers. The contest of the day, the High School All-Star event played under college rules, was a tremendous display of talent. Bounce Cover kid Kemba Walker led a New York team with guards Truck Bryant, Omari Lawrence, Sherrod Wright, Day Day Wiggins, Jordan Lessane, Kerwin Okoro, and Daniel Birch. The guards did their thing with Wiggins looking ultra-smooth, and Okoro showing big promise as an eight-grader with a significant upside. The Metro Squad was led by Erv Walker who had Pat Jackson, Bilal Dixon, Kyrie Sutton, Dave Imes, and Brandon Romain and surprisingly polished 10-grader Tobias Harris who has pro potential.
The final score was 126-121 with Truck taking the MVP with 26 points and Romain grabbing sportsmanship with a game high 32 for the Metro team. Details and game footage will be up on www.highschoolhoop.com in a few.

MVP Truck with Mr. Couch
Mr. Couch gave an award to his granddaughter who has been a significant contributor to the foundation over the years. Today he was up to his usual work of calling schools in the area talking about some kids who don’t receive as much mention such as Matt Wafula from St. Agnes who had a strong showing. Wafula showed good finishing skills around the rim and would be a great get for a Manhattan, Fordham, or Columbia according to Mr. Couch.
Mr. Couch has the respect and admiration of many coaches around the city. He has run his free clinic program at Columbia University, Manhattan College, Fordham University, and John Jay College over the years. All of these schools have benefited from his advice and recommendations. He indeed is a man of the city. If anyone is interested in sending donations to advance his cause please address them to: The Jim Couch Foundation, 3716 Tenth Avenue, New York, NY 10034 Att: Jim Couch Reunion Games

Big Brawley Chilsom held it down on the mic in true playground style and the talent was incredible. My hope is that it’s something that we can continue throughout the years.
