Over the past few years, middle school basketball in the city has gotten stronger and stronger. Leagues like Conrad McCrae, Nike Swoosh, and 2006’s Middle School Madness
at West 4th Street show how the 12-15 year old boys segment is drawing more and more interest. Unusually strong is Rick Rivers’ Funsport Jr. Pro Basketball Program played at Brownsville Recreation Center in the BK.

Rick Rivers aka “The Franchise 2″
Rick, a former Dyckman player and Iona graduate, is the commissioner of the tournament and is at the forefront of a fabulous resurgence of talent in New York City.
The league plays eight games every Sunday starting at 9:45 am and ending at 6:00 pm.
Jr. Pro rates an All-Boroughmetro Rating – Full New York City representation sprinkled with New Jersey, Long Island, Westchester players. Look for more from Rick in Bounce Magazine coming soon.

Hey Sean… Thanks a bunch for helping to further expose what we’re doing out in BK. I work very hard with my programs and I’m honored to see mediums like this take the lead in showing support. Thanks to you, Bobbito, and the entire Bounce family for being a loud and positive voice for grassroots basketball in NYC.

It’s good to see Rick get that recognition he deserves. Since providing a venue for Junior H.S. and H.S. students through education and recreation, Rick has exemplified why he is the “Ambassador of Student Basketball.” Creating a platform for student-athletics’ that include but not limited to; Malik Booth 5-9, Christ the King (St. John’s); Jamie Harris 5-9 Wings Academy (Drexel); Erving Walker 5-8, Christ the King (Florida – verbal); Kemba Walker 5-10, Rice; Lance Stephenson 6-4, Lincoln and Keith Spellman 6-3, Thomas Jefferson.
