OAKLAND, CA: HOME OF THE ROCK / Sep 24, 2007 / 5:51 pm

And1’s Helicopter got that slap for Ballaholic.

Oakland is known for more than just ghost ridin’ the whip. Players out this way–and fans alike–are known for “that go,” local slang that describes just how hard we roll out West.

This is the home of the hyphy movement, and that certainly applies to hoops out here. When the 2007 And1 Mixtape Tour rolled through the Bay Area in late August, ‘the Town certainly lived up to its reputation.

This year’s games were played outdoors, at venues like Southland Mall’s parking lot, as opposed to the arena tour And1 has had in the past few years. The fans here in the ‘Town were like Keak da Sneak: super-duper hyphy hyphy!

Canada’s King Handles was a crowd favorite, playing on the opposing Old Spice team. To the fans’ delight, he battled And1’s The Professor, who kept all eyes on him like a pair of stunna shades with the range of his signature moves. Off the court, he hyped the crowd and his upcoming movie, “Ball Don’t Lie.” Traditionally, the Bay Area has brought out the wilder moments of the And1 mixtape tour history.

2007 certainly was no different.

That photo is crazy…And1 has been holding it down for a hot minute…Being from NY, my earliest global street ball memories are with And1 so I definitely feel the love Oakland has for the Mixtape Tour…

Shout to King Handles who has been in enough bball movies to contend with Bounce’s own Kool Bob Love…The first time I heard of him was on the Notic DvD…Him and his friends were tearing it up in Vancouver…

Fat shouts to “Make Money” as well…He’s definitely the future of “PENS” @ the playground…LoL

You right, Bob. King Handles got that contract and deserved it. It brought tears to my slanted eyes. But you still gotta walk those DOGS once in awhile, fellas.

yash! king handles was in our magazine before. we did a whole page article on the notic back in ‘05. we’ll consider doing something on him again, but there’s so many players we have yet to even get in once. space is a problem when we only come out a couple of times a year, but no fear–that’s why www.bouncemag.com exists!

  8. Greg says:

The Notic days were legendary. Unfortunately, we’ll never get them back.

  9. Town Biz says:

    Shouts to Tom Tolbert!!!!!!!!

  10. Sean Couch says:
