Nike AF1 ID on “The Mayor.” His homeboy is Clark Kent, so you know he can’t come to an event looking anything less than special. I wonder if Clark has any close friends that have really wack sneaker taste? His man Greg Street also packs heat over his socks down in ATL. Hmmm . . .

Nike AF1 ID on Paul “PR” Rivera. My former PR Pride teammate has always been loyal to the Swoosh, but I’ve never seen him with something that snapped my neck as much as these did. Guess it helps that he’s now employed by Phil. Perks of the trade.

Nike 2K5 on “Football” Will Eberhart, formerly of United Brooklyn. Will is a supreme sneakerhead who is currently disguised as a Nike rep. He recalled seeing me wear biege/lt. blue AF1s in ‘95 at the 92nd St. Y Tournament–i didn’t even recall it at first (i’m getting old)! Gulp!

ayo, my bad–Clark Kent told me the IDs in white/red above don’t belong to PR, but rather to Izzy of Nike ID Gallery NYC. i told ya, i’m getting old!

Bob-you know I’m not a huge AF1/retro dude myself, but those second joints are vicious.

wait . . . now there is some shuffling from the Dime Mag office claiming that Paul Rivera lost weight under his calf muscle from long hours and 5k jogging since joining the swoosh, and that the AF1 IDs above are indeed his. Will the real PR please stand up?

^Ayo!
Well, in any case, if those are a 13, whoever owns them can send them my way and I think we’ll all feel confident as to who they would belong to…haha…
And Bob, I missed your beige/light blue AF1 reference…Did you customize those, or were they vintage? They sound VERY nice. And yo, as you once wrote, “A true sneakerhead stays two steps ahead of the game.” You were rocking AF1’s in the mid-90’s?! That’s not two steps…that’s like seven YEARS ahead of the game…haha
Peace.

do doo doo doo . . . Noticias: PR has contacted me via walkie talkie from his Swoosh Helicopter in Moscow and confirmed that those are indeed his AF1s. Is Clark’s AF1 radar off, or did Izzy and PR come up with the exact same ID in a mysterious stroke of mutual genius?
Jeremy-
i wasn’t 7 years ahead of the game, try a ba-jillion. remember, i wore airs when they first came out to the public, have photo proof of it in my book. and i was customizing them in ‘83-’84, have proof of that too! but in regard to the tan/light blues, they came out in ‘95. Nike hit me off with them a month early cuz i was doing commercials with them like the penny hardaway one and radio spots here for the nyc-swoosh campaign. i love wearing low-tops to ball, so i rocked dem at the 92nd St. Y Pro-Am. Everyone in the gym was like, ‘oh!’ funny thing was, i wasn’t even too crazy about’em. once they came out, i passed them on, but they had a good run for a month on my feet. bong bong!

Bob-
I’ve seen that “proof”…I’m still paging through “Where’d You Get Those” at least once a week! Plus, hasn’t it been documented on several occasions that you were the sneaker king from the 80’s-90’s?…haha.
