U. of Arizona bound HS senior Brandon Jennings took a second consecutive co-MVP honor tonight.
8/24/07, Rucker Park, Harlem USA: The 2nd Annual Boost Mobile Elite 24 Hoops Classic tonight featured the nation’s top 24 HS players regardless of grade or shoe affiliation. It is the only HS All-American game played outdoors. Fat Joe, Baron Davis (Warriors), Rafer Alston (Rockets), Coach Jerry Tarkanian (Fresno St.), Nate Robinson (Knicks), Marcus Williams (Nets), and over 2,000 heads were in the bleachers to watch.
The MVPs for the winning “Skip To My Lou” squad were Tyreke Evans a.k.a. “Reke Havoc” and Brandon Jennings a.k.a. “The Take Over,” who broke his own Elite 24 record of 15 assists in ‘06 with 23 tonight, mostly on alleys and ‘’Ha Ha” no-looks. Lance Stephenson a.k.a. “Born Ready” and Jrue Holiday a.k.a. “The Long Weekend” took co-MVP honors for “The Goat” squad.
Elite 24’s original commentator Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. “Kool Bob Love” returned this year and combined with the EBC’s duo of “Hannibal” and “E.J. the Mayor” on the mic. Highlights can be seen on MSG Network’s “Summerball” series on Thursday, August 30th at 5pm, 7pm, and 10:30pm. ESPN will also air a complete show based on the contest in late November.

Hold up … Lance Stephenson had THIRTY-EIGHT and didnt get MVP? That kid is on fire right now!!! Two years ago he told me in a Bounce interview he was ready for the NBA “right now”! It looks like he was telling the truth…

Saku 39 says:
Lance looked great last night and I saw him taking it to Jamal Crawford at Rucker last year but “Born Ready” isn’t quite ready for the L. He’s got future all-star potential, just not yet.
Remember DerMarr Johnson wanted to enter the draft after his junior year.

Scouting Report:
Brandon Jennings passes the ball as well as any guard on the high school level I’ve seen since Omar Cook. He runs like he’s on roller skates and looks like a plane that lifts off the runway on his lay-ups. One and done at Arizona. The “Take Over” is Rucker Park Official.
I was also feeling Kimba Walker. A combo of Rod Strick and Doogie. Rare
finishing ability makes him special. The “EZ Pass” nickname is so right for him that it shouldn’t be messed with.
BJ Mullins is crazy athletic, smooth, and highly skilled for 7′1″ The Knicks
need to do everything in their power to draft this kid. Oden to Mullins is not a bad thing for Ohio State.
Lance Stephenson has a Benard King scoring mentality. Let me update that - a Kobe Bryant scoring mentality. Very strong off the dribble and has the first step that gives any defender probs. Finishes strong at the rim and his jump shot has improved dramatically.
Noel Johnson the son of Cheese looked a little nervous at first but he has a quick release and good blood lines.
The event was hot and shows that Rucker Park is the spot for America to see the young ones have fun on the playground.

Feets Malone says:
In the first half it looked like it was going to be Dexter Strickland’s coming out party of sorts and for a few minutes it was. There is definitely more to come with him. K Walker played great also but Jrue Holiday is not to be reckoned with. The talent was definitely in the park and the only person I wish the crowd would have gotten to see more of is the big fella, John Riek. His shot blocking ability is phenomenal and at any time he’ll change the game by snatching a floater at its peak!!

Bobbito Garcia a.k.a. Kool Bob Love says:
no doubt, i saw john riek in the scrimmage the day before and he was doing his thing down low. some dudes just ain’t made for the park. renardo sidney is supposed to be mad nice but once the guards starting going one on one we barely saw him touch the ball. he’s another that probably would excel in a more organized setting. but that’s how it is! that why you gotta appreciate brandon jennings cuz even though he threw it threw jrue holiday’s legs off the dribble, he never went nut, instead looking to set up the bigs.
