Eastbay Vault Lauch / Jul 31, 2007 / 12:17 am

Vault.
Eastbay will always have a special place in my heart. Growing up it was always a treat when the catalog showed up at the crib. The sneaker game in the early to mid-’90s was nothing like it is now. Really, the only shot at getting some kicks that matched your team colors was in their mail-order pages, unless your team colors were black or red. Of course all of this went down before my talents on the court were discovered. Once that happened I was winning chips all over the tri-state area and rarely paid for my kicks.

Well the catalog is still going strong and is always filled with flavors, and Eastbay has expanded it’s offerings with the launch of the Vault–an exclusive online boutique that will feature limited edition kicks. The first release is Nike’s new collection (Dunk, Blazer, Air Max, and Cortez) inspired by Major Taylor, one of the first African-American superstar athletes. Memberships are free, but limited. Even more than “one of the first African-American superstar athletes” Major Taylor was a world renowned cyclist! Google him people, it’s a story worth educating yourself on!!!
