Initially, I was going to use this post as a gripe session about the one on one display put on by two specific players (you know who you are) @ Dyckman on Friday. It took some of the joy out of the game, but then I saw Adris De Leon going at Ron Artest like a big dude with no business trying to defend a 5′10″ guard. We know “Tru Warrior” has one of the best lock-downs in the league, which is what made this so enjoyable to watch. Adris took it beyond just going one on one; he kept his team involved. He played with the joy of a 12-year-old, and the desire to win of a “warrior”.
The game showed the good, bad and ugly of basketball, and you gotta love it all. Shout out to Kenny, Ralph and Isaiah for making a Brooklyn cat’s trip to Dyckman worth it every Friday.

Adris in red, Artest in purple.

“Too Hard Too Guard” to the baja!

Artest loves the kids like Trick Daddy.

You gotta love Artest for going out that far to pick up and defend. He did the same to ‘Reem Reid last summer. Has no fear. A lot of quick guards won’t even step out past the three point line for fear of getting mixed by Adris.

WHAAAAAT?!?!? That move was badonkers. But I hear you Bob: Artest has crazy heart. I’ve heard so many playground cats measure themselves against Ron. It’s great that he gives people a challenge every time he comes out.

I acknowledged that Artest is one of the best defenders in the league. Its no question. Beyond that, I respect him for just being a good dude. Took time to sign autographs, and left all that ego at home.
