Swing by Pro-City tonight to see the Dyckman team play Mike “King of NY” Campbell’s X-Men. At 0-3 they’re looking to regroup. Word is for the 6:30 game the team is expected to have Mike Dunleavy from the Indiana Pacers, and one of the most underrated players on the playground Jared Johnson.

“Gotta see me work” - Jared Johnson

Jared played for Manhattan College winning a MAAC chip with Luis Flores and Von Damien “Mugsy” Green. He’s played overseas and has run with Mr. Couch’s Dyckman program since he was 14 years old. At halftime of the 1st game, Couch will receive an award for 50 years of community service on the NYC playground.

    Mike Dunleavy??? Wow.

  2. Bobbito says:

Did you know actress Kerry Washington of “Last King of Scotland” fame is Jared’s first cousin? Interviewed her at a Knick game this past season for my “Hot Minute at the Half” feature. She was mad cool.

  3. Christian says:

    Is she single!?

  4. Sean Couch says:

I believe Kerry is available Christian. However Kerry’s b-ball game isn’t as strong as Jared’s. I am a big fan of Kerry. Her work in “Ray” was spectacular.

  5. Moses Townsend says:

Mike Dunleavy, oooh. Who’s next, Troy Murphy?

  6. Bobbito says:

    ayo-

mike dunleavy dropped a very versatile 35 points tonight. full blog entry on it tomorrow.

and mad love to your father, sean. the ceremony was bonkers, the whole pro city crowd was clapping for him at halftime. full blog entry on that tomorrow too! i’m heading to bed for now!

I was in the building for this game and Dunleavy finished with 35!! That’s expected however, with him being an NBA guy.

As for “J.J.”–He got game. I’ve seen him ball at major NYC tourneys i.e. Pro-City and H.I.T.S, only to work out like a Bally’s member.

A H-U-G-E congratulations to Mr. Jim Couch. He definitely deserves the recognition for his service to the community. As a former player of his, Mr. Couch helped me a great deal with my own game and confidence. Plus, it was through his Dyckman workout program that I first learned about Bounce. So great thanks and much love to Mr. Couch!!

jared got game, size and organized aspect (d1 ball and overseas) but there seems to be something missing. everyone who has seen him knows he is nice but he is missing that…??? see what im sayin. maybe he needs a nickname and some dime/bounce love so he can be considered NYC NICE, seems to work for everybody else.

  9. Sean Couch says:

I feel that. Jared’s game is slept on because he gets easy buckets without alot of rah rah. Pro-City announcer Brawley calls him JJ. The city nickname game is real subliminal. Insiders of the playground understand this. A kid like Will “Get Money” Cadiz is similar in this respect. I don’t think JJ needs a nickname. He’s already NYC NICE.

  10. sean couch says:

I would like to purchase several copies of the edition with the name “NEW MONEY” and has Keith Jones (number 3) going up for a layup on the front or back cover, I can’t tell. He is my son and I would like copies for my archives. Thank you soooooo much!

It’s amazing for a game that was completly dominated by the X-Men there is very few mentioned about them. Not even that they won the game. I know this was about coach being honored but give brooklyn some love.
