D. Williams a.k.a. “Stretch”
I had a blast this past weekend chilling in Queens with the fam. My nephew, who plays for coach Rob Diaz and his N.Y.C.’s Finest AAU squad, had a game at Roy Wilkins Park. I showed up with my older brother and lil sister to cheer him on. We had a great time watching him play.
I can see that his game is getting better. A couple of times dude even got the best of me one-on-one. I still have a better jumper though, and a stronger left hand. He’ll be spending this upcoming week in Five Star basketball camp over at Fordham University. I hope that he picks up some good fundamentals. I’ll be in Jersey all week working a basketball camp myself and putting in time on the court so that our rivalry can continue when we both get back home.
Get’cha game up nephew!! My jump shot is always ready. Don’t leave me too much room. Peace.

in 1982, i was a camper with the Upward Fund Basketball Academy on 120th between 2nd and 3rd, and Gene Kitt and the other directors took us up to Fordham University for a day to visit to a high powered camp. NBA/ABA/Pro Rucker Legend Julius ‘Dr. J’ Erving was there. He took the time out to literally shake every kids hand in the building. he was the coolest, exude a vibe like, ‘yeah, i know i’m the man, but i’m showing you love regardless.’
those were the days . . .
