Steve Burtt Jr. a.k.a The Saga Continues
Steve Burtt Jr.

As Christian reported yesterday, Steve Burtt Jr. re-wrote history at EBC on Wednesday. BOUNCE had front row seats to attest. Steve Jr., former Iona College guard and son of Iona/Rucker legend Steve “All Day” Burtt, broke the EBC league record of 63 points in a game set by James “Pookie” Williams back in the 80’s. He finished with 68, only 3 shy of the park record (71) set by Joe Hammond. With that performance, the lefty sharpshooter more than legitimized his rep as a monster scorer—he took it to the next level.

It seemed there was literally no one that could stop him from filling the bucket. With just one defender guarding him, he got his “light feet going and let it rain,” like DJ Webstar. When the opposing team threw multiple guys at him, Steve Jr. continued to drain shots showing “It Don’t Matter” like an Akon single.

The crowd was literally on its feet while this was going on. Dancing, cheering, and acting straight fool for their man “The Saga Continues.” Once Burtt hit the 64 point mark, announcers Al Cash and Hannibal had everyone in attendance give him a standing “O” for becoming a part of EBC/Rucker history.

By the end of the game Burtt had the record, but just as important his team (M.E.N.) had the win. Bounce bumped into him at Nike Pro City last night where we congratulated him. He humbly accepted and even posed for a photo. A gifted ballplayer and a really cool dude, Steve Burtt Jr.—BOUNCE got your back!

Just a question — does anyone foresee this garnering a training camp invite like Homicide’s performance a few years ago got him that Toronto invite?

Or I may be wrong and saw his name somewhere on a roster — it could have been the Summer Pro League. Again I may be wrong but I’m confident I saw his name somewhere.

Us Canadians don’t have the pleasure of watching these games live — otherwise it’d be like paradise!
