Here is the full list of Bounce’s pre-season TOP 20 New York City ballplayers. Feel free to post comments……
_________________________________________________________________
1. Kareem “Big Game” Reid: The name says it all. He plays his best when it’s all on the line. No defender has been able to keep him from getting to the rack. His game is no longer a secret.
2. Corey “Homicide” Williams: His one mission is to get to the cup & more times then not that mission gets accomplished. Doesn’t have one pretty move in his game but he gets major buckets.
3. Darren “DP” Phillips: He controls the glass & the paint. Scores on the block & runs like a guard. Making a run for the title of best big man in the city.
4. John “The Franchise” Strickland: Has arguably been the best big man in NYC for the last decade. Once he gets the ball on the block you have two options: 1. Double 2. Pray.
5. Mike “King of New York” Campbell: The total package. Handles like a point, shoots like a two, has the size of a 3. With two Battle Ground titles under his belt no one can argue his skills.
6. BJ “The Beast” McFarland: He will go through you, around you or over you to get to the rim.
7. Junie Sanders: Drop him off anywhere in the world & he’s good for 20 points. He’s been embarrassing NBA players for years (ask Jerry Stackhouse).
8. Antoine “Anti Freeze” Dolby: The quiet assassin. The closest thing NYC has to Allen Iverson. Sleep on his size & you just might get dunked on.
9. Rasaun “Crabby” Young: Has pretty much won every tournament in NYC. A walking mismatch. Put a big man on him & he takes them outside. Put a little guard on him & he punishes him on the block.
10. Adrian “Hollywood A” Walton: He plays the game with that Harlem swagger. He’s score easy, fast, and flashy.
11. Speedy Williams: The crafty veteran has been putting it down for years. He can beat you off the dribble or run the show like a true floor leader.
12. Alimoe: A point forward. Can beat you playing straight ball or throw it off your face then dunk on you.
13. John “Mookie” Thomas: Whether you’re a pro or not he’s guarding up all 94 feet. He’s also a handful with the ball in his hands as well. They don’t call him The Roadrunner for nothing.
14. Kenny Satterfield: A score first point guard. He’s going to get his & there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
15. Larry Jones: His game is reminiscent of another LJ. He scores on the block at will. When he gets the rock he either scores, gets fouled, or both.
16. Lance “Born Ready” Stephenson: The NYC Phenom earned his rep going against grown men last year. People are still talking about the 15 year olds MVP performance against Jamaal Crawford in last years EBC America tournament.
17. Corey “The Undertaker” Underwood: The lefty big man has unlimited moves around the rim & a reliable midrange jump shot.
18. J Hi: An explosive guard that can beat you from three or off the dribble, but also can meet you at the rim if you test him.
19. Eric “The President” Opio: With his unlimited range he drops more bombs than Funkmaster Flex. When it comes to Dyckman, The President runs things.
20. Adris “2 Hard 2 Guard” De Leon: Scores in a variety of ways & each one is sure to embarrass you. Just may be the quickest guard in the city. Don’t blink.

Crazy. Homicide murders people night in and night out. Kareem is the best pg in the city no doubt but homicide wins games single handidly.

once again championships come into play in the ranking system. there is no way that reem could ever mathc up wit homicide, that would be wicked stepmother foster child abuse. take away the rings and he is a dime a dozen guard. crabby should be #1 if its about rings ( reem cant guard him either)

Im at dyckman!!! says:
interesting…..let me start with homicide, best guard in nyc hands down, reem a close 2nd but the height hurts him. kenny satterfield is probably the best guard in the city, homicide vs. satt would be a great matchup. have no problem with mike, junie and dp…you guys gave strickland a gift, based on his past and i saw you were ranking on now! if this is the case i would say the courtney undertaker underwood kid should be there, i saw him last night at dyckman and he’s my choice for best big…he’s a serious problem. him or dp are neck and neck. last year he gave strickland and dp 40 at west 4th. alimoe…i haven’t seen him play in 2 years, he’s got to go man

Other than Kareem, all the guys are real late bloomers when it comes to the Basketball scene in NYC…..If you look at all these guys classes from High School, their peers who were (and obviously still are) nice are in the NBA making that real pape!!!Its amazng how all you have to do is hoop for 2 summers and now your one of the best from NYC……

Yo, what about God Shammgod?

jerry says:
My bad I forgot God Shammgod fomerly known as Shammgod Wells. He’s balling overseas and definitely belonged in the group of future NBA ballers of their highschool era. Maybe one day someone will write a definitive book on NYC point guards including legends in highschool, playgound, college and NBA.Allowing them, their families, friends, coaches and team members to tell their stories. There are a million stories in every NYC point guard.Let’s hear each one.

I also forgot Shaheen Holloway who spent some time in South Jamaica,Queens and attended Seton Hall who also was supposed to light up the L and I think He’s playing overseas. Why doesn’t someone have a high school/playground game featuring Kareem,Alimoe,Stephon,Skip,Richie Parker,God Shammgod,Felipe Lopez,Zendon Hamilton and Shaheen all on the same team vs whomever it would be good to see them 5 at atime on the same court. I reminisce over you!

Dont forget about daryll “showtime” hill barring his knee injury. He would have been in the league showing out. (Scored 1000 pts in a season & a half not playing his natural position in arguably the best conferece in the country). Just ask baron,b.gordon,c.paul & bone collector. dey know. Real respect real. bassy know too. It’ll be bassy-bron in bk 2010 WOW!!!!!!!!!!.
