For the upcoming issue of Bounce, we ranked the Top 20 players in New York City. This was not an easy task by any means. We aren’t dropping the whole list on you at once. Here is a sneak peak at the 10 through 20 rankings. If you have beef with any of the listings feel free to post a comment.
__________________________________________________________________
10. Adrian “Hollywood A” Walton: He plays the game with that Harlem swagger. He’s score easy, fast, and flashy.
11. Speedy Williams: The crafty veteran has been putting it down for years. He can beat you off the dribble or run the show like a true floor leader.
12. Alimoe: A point forward. Can beat you playing straight ball or throw it off your face then dunk on you.
13. John “Mookie” Thomas: Whether you’re a pro or not he’s guarding up all 94 feet. He’s also a handful with the ball in his hands as well. They don’t call him The Roadrunner for nothing.
14. Kenny Satterfield: A score first point guard. He’s going to get his & there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
15. Larry Jones: His game is reminiscent of another LJ. He scores on the block at will. When he gets the rock he either scores, gets fouled, or both.
16. Lance “Born Ready” Stephenson: The NYC Phenom earned his rep going against grown men last year. People are still talking about the 15 year olds MVP performance against Jamaal Crawford in last years EBC America tournament.
17. Corey “The Undertaker” Underwood: The lefty big man has unlimited moves around the rim & a reliable midrange jump shot.
18. J Hi: An explosive guard that can beat you from three or off the dribble, but also can meet you at the rim if you test him.
19. Eric “The President” Opio: With his unlimited range he drops more bombs than Funkmaster Flex. When it comes to Dyckman, The President runs things.
20. Adris “2 Hard 2 Guard” De Leon: Scores in a variety of ways & each one is sure to embarrass you. Just may be the quickest guard in the city. Don’t blink.

Lance Stephenson. Really? Has he proven himself enough?
I have heard of the kid Hard 2 Guard but haven’t seen him play. I head he never even played high school ball…

yo, when are you guys posting the top 10?
June 12th, 2007 at 9:51 am
Andy Buckets says:
I agree with Mike23. Lance Stephenson is SICK but I think it’s a tad bit early to include him in the ranks of a Speedy, A-Butta, or a Mookie. He did do his thing against Jamal Crawford (I was at the game) but Crawford wasn’t playing ANY defense. It’s too soon to include Lance. Let’s wait until he’s a senior in H.S. at least!
I can’t wait to see who’s in the top 10. I bet “Mr. Smooth” is in there, as well as Homicide. Both of those dudes are animals.

Sean Couch says:
Including new comers like Adris and Lance when playground vets like Ty “Dolamite” Grant and Reggie “Hi-Five” Freeman would fit in around this
area is questionable. Adris had a phenomenal summer (40 at Pro-City) and Lance was MVP of EBC America so I see justification. I’m being critical and I was a member of the voting committee.
Neverless at Bounce we keep it real and go for it as a team.
Overlooked: Will “Silence of the Lambs” Cadiz who just gets 20 and 10 and TNP’s “S-Class” who is good for at least 18 or better every game.

We might post #4 though #9 on Thursday but we are not sure yet. The entire list will be in the new issue of Bounce, available for FREE, courtesy of Nike NYC Basketball. The issues can be found in Bounce distribution boxes that will be located at courts across NYC. Keep an eye out.

Too Strong says:
How did you guys come up with this list? Lance even on this list is a stretch and really unfair to guys who have been doing their thing in the City for years.
Bounce – how can we discuss the list if we haven’t seen who is on the whole thing?
June 12th, 2007 at 12:03 pm
Justin says:
Not fair? The list isn’t put together based on seniority, it is based on what people are doing on the court right now. This isn’t an all-decade team. It is the top 20 at this very moment. You can’t really argue Lance on this list, especially in the 16 spot. He is one of the biggest draws there is and he straight up busts people asses, regardless of age. He has been put on the big stage time after time and always answers the bell. He is a pitbull on the court, straight BK, doesn’t back down from anyone.

Well before I comment what was the critera for the rankings. Was it based on last summer or the last 5 summers? Second much respect to Lance and the other up and coming players who made the list but I think they may need a lil more on their resume first. I also feel since I play against most of these guys that Speedy should be much higher. All the dude does is win chips every year and everywhere. I have much respect for Bounce. Lets not be like EBC (No shots fired. Just being real) That hypes players up after 1 good game or summer. You have to murder day in day out. I’ll finish waht I have to say when I see the rest of the list. Oh I also think A Butta who is the Harlem Kobe Byrant is a bit high. I think its true to say he doesn’t kill everywhere and what about Kiki aka Hold That. Eaze

Bobbito says:
i think everyone has valid points. regarding the criteria, we didn’t include any player currently or recently in the NBA, so there goes your Smush, Luis Flores, Mike James, JR Smith, Steph, Dre Barrett, etc.
we also didn’t include players like Fridge aka Circus, who would’ve been down but because of his Tour duties was on the road all last summer and will be this one too.
top ten coming soon, whole 20 in the summer issue of Bounce which drops this week. subscribe through our homepage.

a-butta 10, who at bounce is related to him? hes good, not #10 good…over satt?? some players dont even want to play on the same team if they know he’s showing up!!! put ki-ki or 40 there. and we not talking chips, this is individual performances…speedy williams isnt top 20, he has a flashback once a week but hes shaky as of late…im intrested to see adris, i hear he’s tough and is still in college…..kenny satt should be top 10, he gets it done everytime he steps on the court
June 13th, 2007 at 2:41 pm

DIPFORLIFE says:
A-Butta is one of the toughest guards to handle in nyc. He eats up anyone u put in front of him. He even gave Vince Carter 30!
June 13th, 2007 at 4:20 pm
Geezy says:
stop it…everyone who saw that game saw vince and a take turns shooting uncontested 3’s….C’MON!!! that was like 10yrs ago, what has he done since?? reid, anti-freeze, satt, burtt jr, kee-kee, homicide, mookie are all better guards than him….not to hate, he’s tough and i love his toughness, but he’s not like that
