Orlando Baeza of PR Pride and I on set at the Goat Park for director Thibault De Longville’s Air Force 1 documentary
Sunday morning, 9:30am, Goat Park, my home. Just For Kicks director Thibault De Longville is working on a new Air Force 1 documentary, and asked me to recreate a run reminiscent of days playing there in the ’80s. So i pulled out official ’80s gear for me and my teammate Orlando Baeza a.k.a. “Quickfast.” The practice jersey and game shorts are literally from 1987 while playing at Wesleyan University. Since Orlando wasn’t even born yet, I lent him my ‘87 uni from my lone season in the Puerto Rican Pro League. On our feet, AF1s, mine i customized the stripe red, just as i used to do dating back to ‘83. i look forward to the doc getting done, shout-out to all ballplayers and crew that showed up, particularly Ted “Nitro” an Mike Drake who both were featured in my book Where’d You Get Those? New York City’s Sneaker Culture 1960-1987.
