Just in case anyone was wondering, Harlem was alive and well yesterday. I rolled uptown to 118th between 5th & Lenox to catch the chip at ATM Live. For anyone who doesn’t know, ATM is one of the fastest growing, and best high school tournaments in NYC. The talent is top notch and the atmosphere is bananas. Harlem is always on their own ish but they are taking it to a new level right now. Jason Fox and the whole Aunt Jackie crew got it on smash. Neon colors, tight jeans, fresh kicks, and your own bugged out dance are a must for admission. It was refreshing to get up there and just chill. What really made the tourney stand out to me was the fact that it was such a young crowd. There was an energy in there that can’t be manufactured.

As for the action on the court the two teams facing off for hardware were North Caroling and Maryland. The NC crew was led by Gerald Colds, Terrell McKenzie, Muhammad Lo, and Zamal Nixon. While the Maryland crew featured Kemba Walker, Domo Jones, John Pressley, and Chris Fouch. The game was close throughout with most of the action being controlled by Cold and Walker. Gerald was pretty much doing whatever he wanted out there. He got the the cup at will and stared to knock down jumpers late in the game. NC was up 32-27 at half. Kemba Walker came alive for Maryland in the second half displaying his versality off the driible and his great ability to finish around the basket. There were a handful of lead changes throughout the second half and Maryland ended up taking the chip by 1 point in OT. We are looking forward ATM starting back up.
